Water.org is empowering thousands of families in the Philippines to solve their family’s water crisis through small, affordable loans. With access to affordable financing, families can provide safe water and the dignity of a toilet for their home. Tarbaca Indigo Foundation has helped water.org build the capacity of local financial institutions so that their partners can design loan products that meet the water and sanitation needs of families living in poverty.
In 2016 water.org identified Brazil as a new priority geography – one with tremendous need for water and sanitation services among the poor, as well as tremendous potential for affordable and scalable microfinance solutions to help meet those needs. Tarbaca Indigo Foundation supports water.org's efforts in Brazil with an important grant accelerating the end to the global water and sanitation crisis in Brazil.
In Bangladesh, with the support of Tarbaca Indigo Foundation water.org has reached more than 45,000 people now benefitting from sanitary latrines and/or safe water access. In addition, health and hygiene sessions offered provided participants with critical information on the link between good hygiene and good health, helping families to realize the full health benefits of their new water and toilet solutions.
With the support from the Tarbaca Indigo Foundation, Water.org has worked to bring piped water through dangerous mountain terrain directly to communities in need in Honduras. A new gravity-fed water system is providing safe water to 114 homes in a rural community, serving 480 people.
